Roma Fiumicino Airport is certified by Skytrax as a 5-star Airport for facilities, terminal comfort, cleanliness, shopping, food & beverages and staff service. This is further confirmation of the evolutionary path taken over the past five years.
Furthermore, despite of the pandemic stop, investments continued. This allowed the opening of the new boarding area A, that increased the number of passengers by about 6 million, as well as new spaces for security and immigration controls, new shopping and dining areas.
The baggage claim area in Terminal 3 has also been improved, new passenger services will soon be added, and the care of the toilets was highly appreciated. The re-opening of Area B in Terminal 1 is planned for this spring, totally and finely renovated and decorated.
With these merits, Fiumicino has now joined a select group of 12 world hubs of the highest excellence: Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, in Europe Munich, and so on. The CEO of Skytrax, Edward Plaisted, is proud to award Fiumicino this recognition because being the only airport in Italy it will contribute to enhancing the nation’s value even more.
Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, is also of the same opinion, declaring great satisfaction for having realised the airport of the future thanks to the innovation and technology employed, as well as the reliability, safety and care for the environment and the territory.
