Electric plane for short flights
Added on Thu May 20th, 2021
The Miniliner electric plane is designed by Slovenian company Pipistrel for short flights. Its characteristics are: small size – it can accommodate a maximum of twenty people – lightweight and eco-friendly.
The electric plane will have a range of about 1,000 kilometres and it will be able to take off and land on runways less than one kilometre long. The aim of the Slovenian company is to provide airlines with an ideal solution for small airports.
The project can also count on European funding: the UNIFIER 19 plan. The project of electric plane is being carried out in collaboration with the Politecnico of Milan and the Dutch Technical University of Delft.
The first Miniliner flight is scheduled for 2028.
The European UNIFIER 19 was created to encourage zero-emission mobility and, as far as air travel is concerned, aims to make better use of the large European network of small airports. Pipistrel can be considered a true authority in the field of electric mobility: its Velis Electro two-seater electric plane has received all the required European certifications, making it the first fully electric aircraft to obtain approval for sale.
