Are airplane seats too small? The Federal Aviation Administration will test them
Added on Wed October 30th, 2019
The Federal Aviation Administration is going to test airplane seats. The testing will take place in November and it will determine how small airplane seats can safely get, and how close rows of seats can be to one another. Under federal regulations, planes must be able to be evacuated within 90 seconds.
720 volunteers, who resemble the actual traveling public, will take part in the testing. They will be people with disabilities and they will be large, short, big or long: they would represent the population. Moreover, the volunteers should not be aware in advance of the evacuation scenarios, they’ll have to take part in.
We will wait for the results.
