Digital: a must-to-have for flying
Added on Wed September 28th, 2022
According to a report by Sita, an aviation technology provider, more and more passengers are now using technology and digital for the travel operations.
Report says that the pandemic has accelerated touchless mode, prompting more and more people to use automation.
Many travellers use their mobile phones mainly for boarding, checking in, labelling and baggage delivery. While at the airport, automated gates for identity recognition or real-time baggage delivery updates have found favour with passengers.
The CEO of Sita, David Lavorel, says that IT solutions are the key for the recovery of air transport.
This survey also shows that in 2023, passengers will be interested in flying even more than before the pandemic. Among the flight choices for leisure travellers will be not only the cost of the ticket or the destination away from geopolitical risks, but also environmental sustainability.
Half of travellers would appreciate that airports took more measures to support the climate and reduce fuel consumption. They would even seem to be willing to pay a surcharge on their ticket in order to offset carbon dioxide emissions.
