The Dubai Airshow

In November, there was the Dubai Airshow in the area where Dubai’s second airport is located, close to the Expo. The Dubai Airshow is the world’s largest gathering of the major players in the aeronautical and space industry.
According to the Emirates government press agency, there were almost 400 exhibitors and about 85,000 attendees. These numbers represent a recovery and a growth of the aviation sector, as also claimed by UAE Vice President Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktum.
According to data released by the Arabian Ministry of Defence, almost twenty negotiations were concluded, that have a worth of 5 billion euros. For the first time, there were also companies from countries in the area of national pavilions, including the Czech Republic, Belgium, Brazil, Israel and Slovakia.
Italy also had a strong presence with pavilions dedicated to the Italian Trade Agency and one to the Campania Region, as the country ranked seventh in 2020 in the export of aeronautical and aerospace technologies to the UAE. Moreover, Italy plays a leading international role in aerospace technologies, counting important numbers in the field of sustainable applications.
Among the prestigious names, Leonardo could not miss the opportunity to present the AW609 tiltrotor and declare the agreement with Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) to strengthen the supply of maintenance services in Saudi Arabia for the AW139 twin-engine helicopter fleet.
